en. The exhibition project WHAT'S ON UR MIND invites participating artists to entrust the realization of an exclusive work to Benoit Ménard from written exchanges. Following the example of one of the last series by Martin Kippenberger, entitled Jacqueline : des tableaux que Pablo n’a pas pu peindre – in which he imagines the continuity of THE painter’s work – (*) it produces, around an epistolary correspondence, a remote show placing curating, delegation, collaboration, imitation and plagiarism at the heart of the challenge.
Ideally excluding any image exchanges, and working from descriptions and notes the artists sent, Benoit Ménard proposes an esthetic vectorization, as his hand becomes a sort of mechanical extension of their project.
Interpretation, ambiguities triggered by language and exchange, trust, respecting an intention, and especially the execution form are the parameters that are at work here, and considered as a potential form of collaborative production.

fr. Le projet d’exposition WHAT’S ON UR MIND chez EXO propose aux artistes invités de confier à Benoit Ménard la réalisation d’une œuvre inédite à partir d’échanges écrits. À l’instar d’une des dernières séries de Martin Kippenberger intitulée Jacqueline : des tableaux que Pablo n´a pas pu peindre - dans laquelle il imagine la continuité de l’œuvre DU peintre - (*) il a été question, à partir d’une correspondance épistolaire, de produire une exposition à distance dont les enjeux se situent entre le commissariat, la délégation, la collaboration, le mimétisme ou le plagiat.
Excluant idéalement tout envoi d’images et à partir des descriptions et des notes qu’ils ont transmis, Benoit Ménard a proposé aux artistes une forme de vectorisation de leur univers esthétique afin que sa main se fasse, d’une certaine manière, le bras mécanique de leur projet. L’interprétation, l’ambiguïté du langage, des échanges, la confiance, le respect de l’intention, mais surtout la forme d’exécution, sont des paramètres qui font œuvre et qui sont envisagés comme une forme de production collaborative.
